IVF Clinic in Mumbai: The Best Assisted Reproductive Technology For Pregnancy under Dr. Kavya Rashmi Rao
If you have been trying to get pregnant for more than a year, or six months if you are 35 or above, without positive results, you might be facing fertility problems.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), every 1 in 6 couples suffer from infertility due to various causes. Fortunately, treatment for infertility is available. In cases where the treatment fails, you can still have your biological child through Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), like In-vitro Fertilization (IVF).
Dr Kavya always tries to help her patients conceive with minimal intervention and medication at Infertility Clinic in Mumbai, Dr. Shetty’s Clinic. Her approach to Infertility treatment includes, first trying for ovulation induction with timed intercourse. This involves monitoring the eggs via USG Scan and then trying for intercourse. If this does not work then she suggests IUI. If 3-4 cycles of IUI have not resulted in the desired result Dr. Kavya suggests undergoing IVF in Mumbai.

IVF: What Is It and How It Works
In-vitro fertilization is a medical procedure that involves the manual fertilization of the sperm with eggs. Your eggs are extracted through a minimally invasive procedure and are combined with the sperm in a petri dish.
Once the fertilization takes place, the resulting embryo is implanted into your uterus. The pregnancy is monitored carefully until delivery at our IVF clinic in Mumbai.
Let’s understand the detailed process:
Step 1: Ovarian Stimulation
Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and Leutinizing Hormone (LH) are injected into your body. These hormonal shots stimulate your ovaries to produce multiple eggs at once.
Dr. Kavya will prescribe the dosage and schedule for starting the hormone shots. Regular ultrasounds and bloodwork will be performed to monitor the follicle’s growth, and the dosage will be adjusted accordingly.
The doctor will also prescribe medication to prevent premature ovulation.
Step 2: HCG Injection
Once the eggs are mature, an hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) shot is administered to stimulate ovulation. It’s given 36 hours before the retrieval.
Step 3: Egg Retrieval
Mature eggs are retrieved from the ovaries through a thin needle and an ultrasound guide.
These are inserted into the ovaries through the vagina. Using an ultrasound guide, your doctor will find the follicles containing mature eggs and retrieve them through a suction device attached to the needle.
The retrieved eggs are placed in a special liquid where they develop further.
Step 4: Sperm Retrieval
Your partner needs to give the sperm sample on the day of your egg retrieval. The sperm are kept with the mature eggs in a petri dish in a lab for fertilization.
If fertilization doesn’t occur naturally, we perform ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) to inject the sperm manually into one of the eggs.
Step 5: Embryo Transfer
Within 6 days of egg retrieval, the doctor will implant the embryo into your uterus. The process involves a catheter containing a syringe with healthy embryos.
It’s inserted into your uterus through the cervix, and the embryos are transferred carefully. If everything goes well, the embryo or embryos (if multiples are used) will attach themselves to the uterine lining.
Who’s a Good Candidate for IVF?
We recommend IVF for women facing difficulty in conception and are over 35 years old.
Women with medical conditions, like hormonal disorders, endometriosis, blocked fallopian tubes, a genetic disorder, uterine fibroids, irregular menstrual and ovulation cycles, and other reproductive issues, can opt for IVF.
It also works for women without a uterus. You can give your eggs and your partner’s sperm and have the embryo transferred to the woman who’s willing to carry your baby.
Additionally, IVF works for male infertility. Men diagnosed with azoospermia (no sperm in the semen) and poor sperm quality can consider IVF in Mumbai.
